Let’s get this party started. (Facebook took down by original post because of…AI gone astray…so I’m going to populate this with content and invite you too as well, to get around their bone-headed and wrong-headed restriction.) Here are the topic areas. Tell me what you know and verify with a credible source/link to it.

NOTE: This article is being written in Texas, in Bexar County to be exact. But whatever we’re saying about here has its analog to where you are. Just search for the same topics with your state and county. They should be making it clear what to do — once you find them. The League of Women Voters, which is a national nonprofit, has been a worthwhile and useful and nonbiased source for decades. They may have links to your state’s information.

  • Here’s information about National Voter Registration Day, which was September 17th this year — but you can celebrate it in your hearts whenever you want to. Just make sure to check your registration status that it’s valid — OR register to vote — by October 7th.
  • Checking your registration status. If you live in Texas, you can check your status online. Here’s the link to Bexar County’s voter registration site.
  • Registering to vote. If you’ve checked your status and you’re not registered to vote, or you’re voting for the first time, again check your county’s voter registration office online and/or your state’s (Secretary of State website should have it.) Here’s the link to San Antonio’s Bexar County website for this.
  • Addressing the mail-in ballot issue — Don’t rely on it until you make sure you have it available.
  • If you’re a high school student and you’d like to register
  • If you’re a college student and you’d like to register
  • If you’re voting while disabled and would appreciate special accommodations
  • If you’re a new U.S. citizen and would like to vote in your first election
